| Whilst supporting our local community is a priority, from time to time events elsewhere cannot be ignored. The earthquake in Haiti is one such example and demonstrates why Lions Clubs contribute to the Lions Clubs International Foundation, a unique aid fund which can respond rapidly to any disaster, making emergency funds available through the Lions’ network. $500,000 was donated to Haiti within days of the earthquake to provide emergency food, shelter and medical services; more funds will follow in the longer term to assist re-building. On a lighter note, congratulations to Ipswich Lions who won the local round of the Trivia quiz and go on to the East Anglian final. Preparations are well underway for the Elmhurst Extravaganza on Sunday 2nd May; an afternoon of traditional family fun. |
