Lions Clubs International - Halesworth Lions Club

Ordinary People doing Amazing Things

Welcome to the Lions Club of Halesworth.

We are part of Lions Clubs International, a world-wide, voluntary, community service organisation with over 44,600 clubs in 190 countries.  There are more than 1,400,000 Lions members - making Lions International the largest organisation of its kind in the world.

The Lions Club of Halesworth was chartered in 1981.  We operate as a Voluntary Service Organisation and are registered with the Charity Commission (number 288357).

The Club currently has 25 members and more than 10 affiliated members; we’re a really mixed bunch of folks from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests, and with a good sense of fun.

The Lionistic Year runs from 1st July, and John Wood is our current President.

Our aim is to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and to do this we raise money to make donations to worthy causes. No money collected from the public can be spent to the advantage of the Lions.

So it’s a very big “Thank you” to everyone who has come to our events and given so generously over the years.  Without your help, we wouldn’t be able to make the donations we have done.

Most of our donations go to Local Organisations, such as the Scouts & Guides, First Responders & Community Nursing Teams; some go to Regional Organisations such as the East Anglian Air Ambulance; some to National Organisations such as Guide Dogs for the Blind; and a very few go to International Causes such as supporting a child in Phuket after the tsunami.

You'll find photos of some of our recent donations on the donations page.

If you’re a Local Organisation seeking funding, please complete the Contact Form and someone from Halesworth Lions will get back to you.  We’re not able to help everyone but do undertake to assess every request thoroughly.

We are also willing to consider helping individuals who are unable to get assistance from their families, Social Services, or other Charities.  We have in the past helped with stair lifts, car adaptation for the disabled, and we have even done some hands-on decorating!  All Welfare Applications are treated in the strictest confidence.  Please complete the Contact Form if you wish to apply to us or wish to sponsor someone in particular need, but again please remember that we cannot help everyone.

Organisationally we are part of the East Anglian Lions Clubs (www.lions105ea.com) and the British & Irish Lions Clubs (www.lionsmd105.org). If you click onto either of these, it will take you to the respective websites where you will find more about the Lions.

All Lions Clubs agree to abide by the Lions International Code of Ethics and Objects.  If you want to learn more about these, please use the Navigation Bar.
