During 2007, we embarked on a new and ambitious plan and ran a "Guess the Car Registration" competition from May to the end of November in partnership with Robinsons of North Walsham. Robinsons provided a brand new Volkswagen Polo (worth £10,000) to anybody who could, for £1 per guess, come up with the same registration number as that locked away in a safe for the duration of the competition. The final figure raised has yet to be calculated and to date the entries have still to be collated so, watch this space for information on that one.

Acle & Brundall Lions were as usual involved in feverish fund raising activities over the Christmas period (which already seems so long ago). During the festive season we were able to raise more than £1200 from various fundraising activities - a stall at Acle Street Fayre (£152) and at the Brundall Christmas Festival (£180), a collection outside Budgens, Brundall (£301), a bingo evening at The Ram Inn (£99) and our annual Christmas Draw, also at The Ram (£475).

Collecting At Christmas

Our efforts have also been aided considerably by the new owners of Budgens who, at the suggestion of the management, have generously allowed us to place our collection boxes in store. This will of course increase our capacity for fund raising in Brundall at least.

January is a time of planning for the year ahead and so far the following are scheduled during the next few months: Sports Quiz in May, Quiz & Chips in April and again in October, Cycle Marathon, Garage Sale, Car Treasure Hunt, and stalls at local summer fetes. This of course is a list which will be added to in the coming months and dates will be advertised in local publications, by poster and on this website.
